Re: laptop or tablet ?
Stewey,

If you need memory, I would suggest a lap top, but if you're just pissing about on line and stuff, a tablet is ideal.

You can get a two in one job. Surface Pro, for example, is both.

Re: laptop or tablet ?
If you have a desktop and can be arsed to get up and use it - then a tablet would be fine

I agree. I'm just saying what I would buy if I were doing a lot of that sort of thing. Laptop everytime, proper keyboard, proper power.

I fucking hate tablets with their touch screens probably due to finger trouble but if OP just needs it for Internet, email etc, they are fine for that.

Are you selling it cot?

Agree coffee, but i actually love browsing with my tablet as the phone is to small and laptop to heavy.
My chromebook is the best, but my kids have took it

Re: laptop or tablet ?
I cannot see the point of a tablet, assuming you already have a phone and a laptop.

Re: laptop or tablet ?
Bought a tablet (Nexus) about 6 months ago, used it twice, it is in the box not being used at all. Use my laptop daily - only bought the tablet for commuting and got bored of it after 1 day after being on a PC all day at work I found last thing I wanted to do on train home was use a tablet.

..."and extremely safe"...

Works in "the Cloud" ("Works best with a Google account which offers you Google Docs," you say), so how the FUCK can that be classified as "extremely safe"?

*logs off to scroll through the latest tranche of porn lifted from "the Cloud" and gets fucking irritated that there's also so much of other peoples' BORING personal detail to filter out first.*

e bay has serious problems you have to use a spoofer so you can switch to firefox, microsoft office but as you say google docs does enough unless you are a pro and need MS. back up for iphone are just a few but i've got round most of them and would recommend a chromebook to anybody

Re: laptop or tablet ?
Crapnot i have a chromebook there is so much stuff it can't do, but i couldn't give a monkeys no waiting for those boring windows updates or security issues. As you say open it up and it's there, updates take a nano second and bob's your uncle.

Re: laptop or tablet ?
A Chromebook is a Laptop running Google's own OS.
Its highly affordable and extremely safe and simple.
Works best with a Google account which offers you Google Docs.

Startup is 2-3 seconds, and you will never look back.

Re: laptop or tablet ?
If you create content buy a laptop but if you only consume content buy a tablet. Simple.

I'm not a typical computer user and genuinely need the fastest computer possible and couldn't manage without my desktop PC. I've also got a Samsung Tab 10 S tablet. To be honest I can't see what all the fuss is about as it doesn't really do much that my Samsung Note 3 can't do. It's bigger I suppose.

My missus is more typical and has an iPad which she likes but hates doing any kind of work related stuff like writing reports on it. She much prefers her Lenovo Yoga (which is a laptop you can use as a tablet) but never uses it in tablet mode.

Re: laptop or tablet ?
A mate of mine works in the public sector and got himself the best possible Surface with lots of great accessories. I tried it and thought it was excellent and comparable to a reasonable laptop. But when I tried to configure a similar top spec one it was VERY pricey. The price of a very good laptop.

Getting there though - might get one in a couple of years.

Re: laptop or tablet ?
I work a lot on screen with docs, sheets, code etc... so a laptop with a proper keyboard and a good screen that isn't covered in fingerprints is essential. But an iPad is better for watching football and answering the phone while cooking a roast or painting a fence. Does that help?

I bought a load of surfaces for work, mainly for the sales teams to do presentations etc - well impressed.

Me? I have the Asus Taichi which is a laptop and a tablet - dog's NUTS.

Surface Pro 3

It's a laptop (if you buy the keyboard case) and a tablet. Rolling these out at work now, they're superb
